Catching up with our Ambassador, Danielle Peazer!

Hey Danielle, how are you? What’s been going on in your world?

I’m really good thanks! I’ve been travelling around including to Australia, I shot the new BOOHOO Fit range and stayed there to explore!

Do you think social media is a blessing or a curse?

I think it’s great, it keeps you in touch with friends and family from abroad and gives you a chance to stay up to date with celebrities or people that you’re interested in. There are always the few people who spoil it though and give social media a negative side by using it to bully, intimidate or threaten someone.

What is your favourite social media channel?

I probably use Instagram the most now but I’ve always been a really visual person. I think Twitter is great for including links in your tweets for people to click through.

What do you think can be done to reduce the amount of cyberbullying on the Internet?

I think there need to be harsher guidelines. It should flag up when certain words are used in tweets and I think it should be clear to each user of social media that it’s a criminal offence to act inappropriately.

Do you think the big social media companies do enough to combat cyberbullying?

I think companies are getting better but it is only when something really bad happens like someone ends up taking their life that then these companies start to do something. In my opinion that’s way too late to start acting. Things need to be done sooner to prevent cyber bullying in the first place.

What advice would you give to somebody being bullied or abused online?

Tell someone. It might feel ’embarrassing’ to tell someone that you’re being picked on but there is a high chance that once you tell someone and talk about it you will instantly feel better and the situation can be dealt with properly. Also, never take anything that a cyber bully says to you personally. They try to target your insecurities so try your hardest to not let them get to you.

Do you have a favourite positive quote? If so what is it?

I have the symbols for Peace, Love & Happiness tattooed on my wrist and I try to live by that. If you have those three things in life in any way shape or form then you should feel incredibly lucky. Everything else is actually quite irrelevant if you put it into perspective.

What’s coming up for you in the future?

This year has been pretty hectic for me already but I would much rather it that way than bored. My blog Idle Lane is growing and I’m working with some great brands. I’ve also got a few fitness/dance based projects going on and am hoping to have some exciting things to announce soon!
