Nicki Minaj Is Awarded Cybersmiler Of The Month Award For February
Well done Nicki for changing this boy’s life through positive use of social media. You truly are a worthy winner of our Cybersmiler of the Month crown!
It’s that time time again – time to recap and highlight the positivity which has prevailed over the last month. Since the start of 2017, we have witnessed an array of good deeds, and this particular winner has been doing some good deeds of her own. February saw an exceptional and heart filled message on Social Media so exceptional that we had to recognize publicly the person responsible for it..it was none other than the queen of rap, Nicki Minaj or in this case…Aunty Nicki.
One of the most famous faces in music, for both her outgoing personality and bubbly style, Nicki Minaj came to the aid of her 5th grade teacher, Liz Smith-Breskin and her brave ‘Prince’ Quinn after the mother and son duo shared with the world a heart wrenching video discussing her son’s bullying story.
Despite it being a silent video, the message was translated loud and clear, speaking a powerful truth about bullying. Quinn, a victim to bullying both physically and verbally, confided to his teachers only to be placed in a 3-day detention because he was told off for cursing. This is an upsetting realisation that bullying is still not being treated as a serious threat to our children’s needs and needs to be focussed on, and it’s thanks to people like Nicki Minaj, whose kind words and reposting has led to such an impressive movement, with over 5 million engagements on Instagram alone.
“Dear Quinn, from the moment I met you (yes, the day u ran away from me b/c my pink lipstick scared you), I just knew you were on the road to greatness! Not only were you as cute as Tom Cruise, but you were smarter than Albert Einstein, & a better actor than Meryl Streep (ok so maybe that one was a stretch), lol let’s face it no one will ever act better than Meryl. Anyway, I’m so proud of you for being so brave. Your mother changed my life as my fifth grade teacher & now I get to see her little Prince grow up and take on this world, head on! Anyone bullying you is simply just intimidated by your GREATNESS & POTENTIAL. One day I’m going to buy a ticket & come & watch you acting on the big screen. Remain positive sweetheart, Aunty Nicki LOVESSSSS YOU!!!!!!!”
Nicki Minaj, Cybersmiler Of The Month, February
Admitting you are a victim of bullying or cyberbullying is scary, however coming forward is the first step to improving the situation. As Nicki said “I’m so proud of you for being so brave, because as humans we should be praising these brave warriors, not victims but warriors because they are so incredibly strong!”
