Idris Elba And Stormzy Win Cybersmiler Of The Month Award For December

Joining the likes of Selena Gomez, Normani Kordei and Sesame Street, we are delighted to announce our two new winners of December’s Cybersmiler of The Month Award – Idris Elba and Stormzy.

Earlier in December, the Hollywood star and British rapper went to visit a children’s hospital in London dressed up as Santa to cheer them up and presented the kids with some very special surprise gifts all wrapped up for them to open. With the children being treated at the hospital and unable to stay home for Christmas, both Idris and Stormzy put a smile on many faces – including the staff!

Visiting the Rainbow Ward at London’s Newham University Hospital, the stars, dressed in full Santa gear along with their white fluffy beards sat down with the children while they opened their presents. Staff at the hospital were happy to participate in the Christmas festivities, with Idris and Stormzy telling jokes and having a good time. The children were also thrilled and amused to see Santa arriving early to greet them with an extra special surprise, helping them take their mind off of their treatments for a while.

“This visit was just a moment for me to hopefully bring a smile to the children who are unwell, in hospital and away from the comfort of their homes during the Christmas period.”

One of the parents of 20-month old Derek Duncan was very supportive of their Christmas surprise saying that it was, “great to see two mega stars taking time out to dress up as Santa and bringing gifts for our son – a treasured memory. Thank you Newham Hospital.”

As a parent of two children himself, Idris Elba was keen to make the visit, understanding the difficulties faced by the children and their families, “With a 15-year-old daughter and three-year-old son myself, I can only imagine the anguish and maybe even fear these children and their parents are experiencing.”
