Florence And The Machine Win May Cybersmiler Of The Month Award

This is a perfect example of how powerful and life changing the internet can be, unfortunately not everybody understands the power that the internet holds.

Following on from previous winners Wentworth Miller and Rihanna, we have a winner the month of May who played their part in a truly touching series of events.

Now, you may have heard of the pretty awesome band Florence and The Machine, right? But we bet you didn’t know that they’ve been busy in Texas playing a private set at the bedside of a seriously ill fan…is that incredible or what?

The story goes like this, a young fan (who shall remain nameless) was due to see Florence and the Machine play Austin, Texas’ 360 Ampitheatre. Tragically the young girl fell ill and had to reside at Austin’s Christopher House Hospice, which under normal circumstances would have signalled the end of the road for most people getting to see their favourite artists…NOT SO on this occasion because they had the power of the internet on their side! So with a combination of the all powerful internet, some relentless work by hospice staff and a HUGE heart over at Florence and her Machine’s HQ meant that a Facebook appeal caught the eye of Florence HERSELF and before you could bat an eyelid Florence and Co were down the hospice rocking out with their number one fan!

“Today we were privileged to witness the clear joy of a room full of teenagers singing with Florence Welch and guitarist Rob Ackroyd from Florence and The Machine who came to Hospice Austin’s Christopher House to give a private concert to a teen girl who missed their concert due to ill health. The room was full; full of joy and warmth and love and life and singing. Thank you Florence!”
