Meanwhile at Twitter they've got Jack Dorsey back and are concentrating on bringing tailored INSTANT news to you, the news you want. With Twitter owning Periscope and the fact that it delivers live news I don't think any buttons Facebook introduce can compete with Twitter. I know it's a different thing altogether but when it comes to where people will be turning for their news for the coming years....Twitter. It's actually making news cool, Twitter is helping teenagers have interests in politics, current affairs and world policy. It's the ultimate platform!
In fact, I acutually like the like button. Its so simple but means so much. Complicating this with a selection of emojis is a strange decision. I don't actually think they will do it. In fact I think it could just be a publicity stunt. Remember the debacle over "outing" profiles with assumed names??? So inane and ridiculous, I cant believe a multi trillion business like Facebook would not have thought that one through. Next we have a load of hype about the "dislike" button and now this. I'm getting really bored with hearing about Facebook, they are just a directory by default, nothing more, nothing less. All this rubbish is just meant to make a gazzillion people say, "oh, I wish we could go back to the old Facebook", and hey presto, here it is. They are desperately trying to make themselves relevant, i'm not buying it.
Social Media??!?!?! What is social about hiding behind ambiguous emoji's? De-humanising the internet with every step they take. What on earth happened to Facebook. Its becoming a joke, a parody of itself. Even Zuckerberg has become some kind of patsy figurehead to what was once an organic creation.
I'll tell you what I think! Facebook are once again manipulating their way through as usual. It was only a week or two ago that Facebook were all over the news regarding the dislike button. There was an immediate uproar which Facebook then used to appear to have listened to but in actual fact got exactly what they wanted, they were never going to have a dislike button. I think it was a distraction. This button leads to more ambiguity which in turn leads to more drama, more abuse (or at least interpreted that way) and more drain on everybody's resources except Facebook! Well done Facebook *Slow Clap* you're SO clever and forward thinking lol.
Facebook Reactions is the new alternative to the 'Thumbs Up' and is a set of emotions that lets the user convey their emotions by using one of the pre set emoji's. A quick google will give you more details. I hope this is useful!
I was wondering if you could give us more information on what this new feature is. I myself have yet to hear about it. As you've seen on a previous post, people had strong opinions about the Dislike option Facebook was going to introduce. So I'm sure everyone would love to know more about this!
