Thinspiration is ruining my life!

Hi, I’ve never really posted on here before but I need some help… A few months ago I started being bullied really badly because I’m not “thin enough” according to girls at my school. At first I didn’t let it affect me but now when I look in the mirror, all I see is fat. I stumbled over something called thinspiration which is basically really thin girls, tips and tricks for skipping meals and making yourself lose an unhealthy amount of weight. When following these tips to lose weight, you normally end up with illnesses like Anorexia or Bulimia but every time I try to think positively about myself and my weight, I remember these pictures of girls with thigh gaps and flat tummies and I’m suddenly feeling really sad again… Does anyone know of any ways to stop feeling down about yourself and to build up self-confidence? PLEASE HELP!

hey smileysammy
i used to feel similar to this when i was in school. people were so horrible to me i ended up in hospital due to my battle with bulimia. its a very cruel illness and i am very lucky to be rid of it. my advice to you would be to ignore what people say about you because as long as you are happy and healthy, thats all that matters. if you are uncomfortable with your weight there are healthy ways to combat it without making yourself ill like joining the gym for an example or even switching out crisps or chocolate for a healthy alternative. never let the haters get you down, everyone is beautiful in their own way.

You can get through this. Don't listen to anyone who tells you what shape you should be. Talk it through with someone you trust, your mum or dad? and get the support you need. We are always here for you!

Hello everyone, I think this topic is really interesting. Thinspiration is something I've never heard of before. It's scary how dangerous the online world is becoming! Now I'm aware of what thinspiration is, I can make sure it's not something my daughter looks at. Thanks for the information guys!
