Success of Stop Cyberbullying Day 2016

Another year being involved with Stop Cyberbullying Day and I thoroughly enjoyed it! I was using the #SCD2016 throughout the day/night and it really did have a feeling of togetherness, like a movement or something. It's so nice to see so many people wanting the same thing, a better and safer internet. Did you get involved and what was your favourite thing about the day?

I loved the Richard Armitage blog post. Its so nice to see a celeb take so much time over something that obviously means a great deal to them, make an effort to really talk to people. Well done guys, you have a great ambassador there!!

Good to see lots of people getting involved again! All this positivity is infectious!!
The best thing about SCD2016 for me was the amount of international supporters you have. Saw some from The Philippines, Africa and Pakistan!!! I suppose positivity has no boundaries! Great work guys. Spread the word and keep on Cybersmiling!!!

I really had fun tweeting on the hashtag that day, too, Superdad.

Because I work from home as a writer, I keep a tab up with Twitter during the day ... On that particular day, I looked up some stats in advance about the effects of cyber bullying and also tips on how parents can help their kids combat it or get help. I spent the day tweeting out that info and had a lot of positive interaction from my followers!

I hope I didn't overdo it on the hashtag, but it was one of those things where I felt I could contribute my own information-gathering skills to the cause, and it made me feel part of something really great.

All of us can make a little difference, one person at a time, and this was a terrific opportunity to shed some light in our own way.

As always, I am grateful to the Cybersmile team for their ongoing support and encouragement to moms like me.

Yes next year will be great, we should maybe form a list of companies and celebs that we'd like to see involved in stop Cyberbullying day 2017 and give it to Cybersmile HQ?

Good idea Superdad and I completely agree with David85, great to see everyone from everywhere supporting and giving their time to the cause of stopping cyber bullying.
I've personally been thinking for a long time about making some kind of contribution/s to the blog about how I and the schools I've worked in handle/deal with both bullying and cyber bullying. Maybe some parents, pupils and anyone else here really might gain something from knowing how these problems can be delt with within the school environment. And also share how the staf discusses these issues and try to find good ways to handle what sometimes feel like impossible situations. Maybe I could finally find the time to write something for next Stop Cyberbullying Day?
Giving an honest and clear view into it - not everyone sees or wants to deal with these issues within a school (sadly). I have always seen it as a must to talk to the pupils and my coworkers about these things and sometimes kids are far more open about putting up guidelines and rules than some of the staff!?
Am I wrong in thinking that it could be of interest (for you all) to get an insight into how (some) schools work with all kinds of bullying? Let me know!

Stay amazing everyone,

~Aileen

That's a great idea! Facebook always seem to be missing compared to all the other companies, have you noticed that?

Aileen that sounds great! We are all super interested in how schools and educational institutes are dealing with cyberbullying so I think you should get straight on it...don't wait for stop cyberbullying day just send it in for the Cybersmile blog!

Some kind of interview or Q & A about Cybersmile and cyber bullying would be nice. With the team that runs Cybersmile but also with some of the ambassadors.
Id like to see that and hear what they have to say.

That's a great idea Iaan, I'm sure the Cybersmile team will have noted that or maybe you should email them to suggest it? I always use the contact form here www.cybersmile.org/contact-us

What a great idea! Would love to hear more about Cybersmiles team and ambassadors and learn more about their beautiful mind, soul and heart, and how they come to be part of cybersmile. ... How about we try to come up with some great questions for a future Q&A. Would be nice to do something for Anti-bullying month in November. 😊

Let me start with a suggestion, what piece of advise would you give to your younger self about cyberbullying/ bullying?
