My daughter is 20 weeks pregnant and the family of the father is harassing her and bullying her online - setting up dating apps in her names, ordering food takeaways, posting on community websites. She is terrifies of what more they can do online. It seems that there is not much the police can do unless it is direct threats to harm her. I am so scared and worried for my daughter as she is under so much stress and this is not good for her or the baby. Any help and advice would be really appreciated.
Hi Sarah,
I think the best thing you can do is firstly, make an official report to the police for harassment and keep in touch with them if anything else happens.
It may also be wise for your daughter to reset all her passwords and to check to make sure she is not giving away personal information online. Womens protection groups are also a good option, they have a lot of resources that could help you from a legal and practical point of view. You can also contact the cybersmile help team at [email protected] for more advice or info. I hope everything works out for you and your daughter. We are always here for you.
Getting in touch with child services or women's protection/victim support organisations is a good idea. Your daughter is the victim of targeted and organised harassment and intimidation and that is what these groups are there for. They will also know what agencies could and should do to help.
