Getting things off IG

I've reported endlessly things that were posted to shame me, things of my past. Nothing has gotten removed, it's been nearly a year. What next?

Hi there! If you have reported this as bullying and harassment and they have done nothing then you have little option but to keep reporting, and providing evidence that this is a long running campaign. If you have done this then there is little else you can do. Although IG/FB talk a lot about supporting users, they will only take action it seems when there are serious threats or sexual/violent content involved. Like Twitter, they call this kind of abuse, 'low quality content' which they suggest users block out and disconnect with rather than trying to stop the user or delete the nasty comments. I'm sure you are well aware of the reporting system, but just in case here is a link to some of cybersmile's advice regarding IG. www.cybersmile.org/advice-help/category/instagram

Thanks for your reply. And what you've described has been just what's happened. Its extremely frustrating, and although it may not be direct threats, what's happening certainly violates IG guidelines. They've stolen photos from my profile and used them on "another" page. This page was made "in honor" of me; they have found old pictures, public records, and posted these, only they always skew the facts. They tell people that I'm a drug felon, I AM NOT. They've frequently referred to my felony convictions, I have none. They found that I had a couple arrests, and gladly tell everyone what a criminal I am because I was in jail again. A very long story of my circumstances, but those couple arrests were for unpaid fines for traffic tickets, both totalling $290, hardly the price one would pay for felony drug charges. They follow and approach / harass my followers. I am dealing w/these things a bit better now. It was daily a routine if hard work convincing myself of several things....
*I'm human and I will make mistakes.
*That anyone who could take negative events from your life and use thosr things to break you, shame you, or make you feel less of a person, are people who are miserably unhappy w/their own life. Pray for them.
*If you play the game, test their antics, then you've stooped to their level and that makes you just like them.

It gets to a point when all you can do is protect your own online spaces from these people, so you can express yourself without having to put up with a constant tide of abuse and harassment. Trying to control this in other spaces can be ultimately futile, exhausting and very stressful.
You're right to take the attitude of not stooping to their level as this is also ultimately futile, exhausting and stressful!
It's obvious to me that social media platforms have a long way to go before they can say that they are truly committed to upholding the codes of conduct and rules that are supposed to protect users from this type of behaviour.

Keep that attitude and you will be fine.

Move on, and keep moving on.
